Somehow, we think this is pretty much self-explanatory.  Yes, you guessed it, there are book reviews here.

Anthology List

Here's something cool we're building at the Database: a listing of anthologies along with the stories and authors included in each book.

Welcome to the Fiction Database.  We are in the process of building the ultimate reference to fiction published in English.  In the coming days, we'll be adding more authors to the database.

The following titles are books we recommend.  We feel these are definitely worth your time.  Some may be new, some may be old, but all are outstanding!  Give them a read.

Memories by Mike McQuay is one of those books that few people have read, but everyone should read.  It's a genetic time travel novel dealing with Napoleon Bonaparte, but while the research is top-notch and the writing is outstanding, the book transcends genre because of the emotional truth McQuay is able to wring out of his characters.  Mike McQuay used to teach a writing class at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma.  I lived in Tulsa at the time and my friend Bill Allen and I would make the drive down to Edmond every Wednesday to take Mike's class.  He was the first writer to tell us we had a shot at selling fiction.  This book is the reason we knew it would be worth the drive to take his class.  It will probably always remain one of my favorite books.

The Watchman by Robert Crais is the first novel featuring Joe Pike as the lead character.  Joe has always been Elvis Cole's protector and it's great to see him take center stage.  The book is loaded with action and suspense and it's one of Crais's best novels to date (L.A. Requiem is still my personal favorite, but there you go).  Crais has said that he will write more books with Joe Pike as the lead.  This is a very good thing.  Of course, for now, if you want more of Joe Pike, you can always read the Elvis Cole novels--every one of them is terrific and well worth your time.  One thing you can count on--if the author is Robert Crais, you're in for a good time.
