Lilian Jackson Braun

Lilian Jackson Braun was born in 1913.  In the 1960s, she published the first three books in the Cat Who series featuring James Qwilleran and his two Siamese cats, Koko and Yum Yum, who solve mysteries.  Actually, Koko does most of the sleuthing and he may have psychic abilities (hey, he has thirty whiskers instead of the usual twenty-four, so he's more attuned to psychic vibrations).  The books are light hearted and fun.  Braun disappeared from the publishing scene for eighteen years because publishers wanted books will sex, violence and profanity.  Braun came back in the 1980s and she's been going strong ever since.

She lives in North Carolina with her husband, Earl Bettinger, to whom all the Cat Who books are dedicated, and two cats.
